Julian Ledger is an award winning photographer, whose passion for the theatrical led him toward the fantastical world of fashion. Subsequently spending five years cutting his teeth in fashion and portrait photography in Perth, Western Australia has resulted in commercial and editorial work featuring in magazines in Australia and New Zealand as well as England and even countries as far a field as Russia and South Korea.

Julian's love of the theatrical and creative possibilities that fashion photography allows, influences much of his portrait work. For him the ability to create a fantasy world for a portrait allows the sitter to free themselves from the reality of the everyday and the mundane, where they can be free to capture their own creative identity in a portrait.

"Generally people hate having their picture taken, I know I do" says Julian, "which is why it is important to take the time to break down a few of those barriers that automatically go up the moment someone points a camera at you. In a 'time is money' society, few photographers perceive that maybe the end result is worth the wait."
